Meeting with art in the Village of Casacalenda, one of the most creative in the Molise region

Casacalenda, a municipality with ancient origins, is a place rich in history and traditions. According to tradition, the Roman army camped here while waiting to confront Hannibal, who had taken refuge in Gerione. The ruins of Gerione, located just a few kilometers from the village, represent a significant historical testament for enthusiasts of archaeology and ancient history.

The town is renowned for its outdoor contemporary art installations, which transform every corner of the village into an open-air exhibition. This inclination for art is also reflected in the multimedia museum of the bufù, a typical Molise musical instrument, which tells the story and evolution of this fascinating instrument. It is internationally known thanks to the historic Molise Cinema Film Festival, which is held every year and draws actors and directors of international fame. The municipal area also hosts an important LIPU oasis (Italian League for Bird Protection), a protected area that houses numerous species of birds and offers nature trails for nature lovers. The oasis is an ideal place to observe local wildlife and enjoy moments of relaxation surrounded by greenery.

Therefore, Casacalenda is a destination that combines history, art, and nature in perfect harmony.
