A journey to the era of the Angioini

Just a step away from Puglia, with an incredible view of the Gargano and a short distance from Lake Occhito, the largest reservoir in Europe, Colletorto stands proudly atop its hill.

Impossible not to recognize it with the bell tower next to the Angioine tower featuring battlements. It is precisely this tower that not only characterizes the town but also takes us back to the most prosperous period of the town, during the Angioine domination.

Even the most important event of the year is linked to this period. In fact, it allows you to live it firsthand. In mid-August, the “Notti Angioine” are held, two days of historical reenactment with fire games, parades, flag bearers, the goose race, and the unmissable castle fire in honor of Queen Joanna I of Angioini.
